Motivation

I wrote this book to challenge the acumen of fellow word nerds. The sixty puzzles—anagrams, scrambles, prefixes, suffixes, hooks, word chains, phoneys, and others covering the gamut of word play—are meant to entertain and educate. The puzzles are aimed at aspiring word buffs and contain elements to challenge both newbies and experts alike. If you have an idea for a new type of puzzle, please send it to me. I hope to produce several more workbooks over the next few years. Note: All words in the puzzles appear in the Official Tournament and Club Word List, a book used in competitive Scrabble®.
